Active All Age Service

Worship Services

At St. Mary's we have identified that different people like different styles of worship.  We have a traditional service and a contemporary service, so just choose which one suits you! The morning starts at 9am with a more traditional Holy Communion Service, singing hymns accompanied by our magnificent organ, and with a short exposition of God’s Word.  Our second morning service starts at 10.30am and offers a modern more relaxed pattern of worship, led by the church worship band and singers, and with time for a careful exposition of the set Scripture passage for the day.

The first Sunday of each month is set aside for an Active All Age Service which really promises great fun and ‘hands on’ activity for everyone, whatever the age or ability, with craft, DVD clips on the screens and relevant, Bible based teaching. Our Children’s Church (ages 4 to 13+ ) continue on the other Sundays of the month. Children meet for registration at the back of church before the 10.30am service on the 2nd, 3rd and 4th Sundays of the month and before the 10am service on the 5th Sunday of the month. They go over to the Church Centre for their morning session during the first hymn. Their time includes opportunity for contemporary worship, interactive prayer, child friendly Bible based teaching before they join their families in church for a blessing or communion. Refreshments are served after each service in church with a real sense of fellowship and fun evident as we share together.

For those who are unable to join us on Sunday mornings, a mid week Holy Communion Service is held on Wednesday mornings at 10.30am. This takes place in the Chapel in St. Mary’s Church and is a quieter, more reflective service, following the form from the Book of Common Worship Order One. Refreshments are served after these services, which provides an opportunity to enjoy one another's company and to catch up on the news!
