Mission Action Planning:
The Diocese of Winchester has 12
areas of mission focus, which together will help achieve
sustainable growth for the common good. Five are already in
progress, and are a Rule of LIfe, companion links with other
cultures and contexts, strengthening engagement with schools,
Fresh Expressions of church, and evangelism and discipleship
courses across the Diocese.
Three additional projects for the
future include, the 'Thy Kingdom Come' initiative, social
transformation enterprises and increasing vocational callings.
Four major step changes include initiatives in rural mission,
resource churches planting new churches, major development areas
and further and higher education.
Deanery Mission Action Plan (dMAP)
Deanery is engaged in delivering key strategic priorities using a
Deanery Mission Action Plan (dMAP). This MAP is a
living document which draws together a plan to develop our Deanery in
its missional activities. With our first dMAP now three years old, we are
close to finalising a new dMAP, which will be brought
before Andover Deanery Synod at its first meeting of 2018 on
Wednesday 24th January. Once the dMAP has been approved, it will
be available to view.
Parish Mission Action Plan (pMAP)
We believe God's Vision for St.
Mary's is to SEEK God in Worship, to SERVE
one another and to SHARE the love of Jesus.
After considerable prayer and discussion
our first pMAP was approved by the PCC in September 2015, and the Deanery in
October 2015, and put into place. Having a clear vision of our objectives,
strategies to achieve them were quickly put into place.
So successful was
the outcome that after a review, the pMAP was revised, updated
and approved by the PCC in July the following year. Thanks to
God's goodness and grace, this pMAP too has had to be updated
and so in November 2017 a new pMAP was agreed and approved!

Our objectives continue to turn the key aspects of each pMAP
into strategic developments as we move forward together. Small teams
have been formed to spearhead and direct how we believe the Lord is
guiding us by His Holy Spirit, to achieve all that He is calling us to
be and do in His service.
One key area
of our pMAP included an exciting,
yet challenging initiative to a rapidly expanding residential
development in the Parish. We successfully launched the
3R's (Refresh, Relax, Revive) Pop-Up Cafe in Pilgrims' Cross CE
Primary School in September 2016. This is proving to be an
enjoyable and much appreciated Saturday afternoon of delightful
refreshments and craft activities for the residents of the
Picket Twenty development.
Other areas of God's blessing include:
Small Groups and our Prayer Life - A new Men's Group
was followed in
January 2017 by the
launch of a new Women's Group
and a Discipleship Group. Attendance
at the monthly prayer meetings has increased.
Employing a full time
Children and Families Leader - Andy and
Jo Berry started work as Joint Leaders at St. Mary's
Church on the 1st March 2017, and the ministry is
Matters - An
Eco Church Representative has been appointed. St. Mary's
has recently been awarded the Bronze Award and is now working towards
the Silver Award.
A New Baptism
Programme - An exiting new
programme was completed and approved by the PCC in July 2017. Beginning
in September 2017 all Baptisms are being held during the All Age
Service on the first Sunday of each month at 10.30am, and these first few months
have been extremely well received, by regular church members
in addition to the baptism parties.
Planning a Church
